One of our core values as individuals and as a firm is to be an integral part of and to give something back to the communities in which we live and work. We support a number of causes that are important to us, predominantly charitable and community organizations that focus on children’s and veterans’ needs, including the outstanding organizations listed below. Whenever possible, we look for opportunities to “walk the walk,” and to volunteer our time and sweat, as opposed to just writing a check. The following is a representative list of the charitable and community organizations that we support:
Band of Brothers is an organization dedicated to bridging the gap between Southern California’s business and military communities.
Fresh Start provides reconstructive plastic surgery and related services to children and young adults with physical deformities. All services — including surgery, dental work and speech clinics — are provided free of charge by volunteers who are medical professionals and paraprofessionals in our community.
SDSMF provides a medical safety net for injured youth with limited financial means in order to return them back to health, life and sports.
Founded by NFL star Junior Seau, the Foundation focuses on improving the lives of the children in our community.
The ADA is a tremendous support for those afflicted with all types of diabetes and their families.
Natural High’s mission is to influence the hearts and minds of kids by inspiring them to choose a natural high and reject drugs. The Foundation produces and distributes the renowned Natural High substance abuse prevention DVD series free-of-charge to over 110,000 schools in the United States.
Hoag Charity Sports Inc. and Hoag Hospital Foundation are the operator and beneficiary of the Toshiba Classic, a PGA Champions Tour event, which take place at the Newport Beach Country Club on March 10-16, 2014. Now in its 17th year under Hoag’s direction, the tournament generates over $1,000,000 annually, and in the 16th year the total exceeded $16 million which benefits Hoag Hospital Foundation. The 2014 Toshiba Classic marks the fourth year that proceeds from the tournament will benefit Hoag’s Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center, which provides comprehensive services for those with, or at risk for diabetes regardless of their ability to pay.
In addition to our community service, our attorneys have been honored by the State Bar of California, the Marine Corps and the law firms in which we have worked for our provision of pro bono legal services.
